A New Theater in Texas is Welcoming Dogs and Serving Unlimited Wine
K9 Cinemas was opened in Plano, Texas in December 2018 by Eric Lanford, who described himself as a “serial entrepreneur.” It is the world’s first movie theater welcoming dogs and serving unlimited glasses of wine and whiskey to moviegoers.
Landford thought of this new type of movie theater experience in 2017 when he adopted his Australian Eskimo dog named Bear. Landford posted on K9 Cinemas Facebook page:
“I simply want to make other people as happy as Bear makes me. When our customers come through our doors it’s nothing but smiles and laughter.”
Each film shown at K9 Cinemas on the weekdays is dog-themed and family-friendly. On the weekends, there is an R-rated film for those who prefer it. This theater is perfect for people with service dogs as well because they can take them in without having to worry about having an issue with the theater rules. Each screening includes a short intermission to allow a bathroom break for all the canines in the house and to avoid any accidents during the show.
The theater has enough seats to accommodate for 30 humans and up to two dogs per owner. An adult ticket is $15 and includes unlimited drinks for the night. To make sure everyone has the safest experience possible, each owner is responsible for cleaning up after their dog and is asked to bring paperwork stating that each dog is up to date on their shots.
K9 Cinemas has created a magic environment that is bringing dogs and their owners together to form stronger bonds and build a community of dog lovers.
“We have a big heart for our furry family members in our lives, and believe they should get a night out with you.”
