“My mom is a warrior. She constantly reminds me the importance of an education since she didn’t have the same opportunities growing up.”
Bensalem, PA
My mom is from Jamaica. She didn’t have the worst life as an immigrant but then again whose life is the best. Isn’t life all about what you make out of it? My mom came from Jamaica when she was 28 years old and it took her 6 years to go through the process of finally coming to America. Seems like forever if you asked me. Since my mom came up here in January she experienced snow. She was so frightened. She had never seen snow before. My mom is a warrior. She constantly reminds me the importance of an education since she didn’t have the same opportunities growing up. She explains how children in America are so lucky, because we have the world to conquer if we want it bad enough. She explains how jobs were plain and simple back home and in America, there is plenty to do and see. Although, my mom misses her home in Jamaica, she is happy that she came to America.
