“Now, I can happily say playing piano has been one of the constant things in my life. Through the years, I have grown in knowledge of the skill and love for playing.”

The way I love to express myself
the most is through playing piano. There is something so beautiful about the tone of the notes and the way they flow together in unison.
My family at first didn’t understand what drew me to grow such a love for this instrument. However, whenever I was near one, I would start playing for hours.
For me, I am a self- taught pianist and I have been playing for nine years now. When I first started, I started on a small keyboard with only about forty to fifty keys.
Playing piano came naturally, and I realized I could play by ear rather quickly. My parents were pretty supportive of my love piano.
However, they did want me to play sports during my childhood. Although I did try some sports out, piano and music were the things that truly spoke to my heart.
Now, I can happily say playing piano has been one of the constant things in my life. Through the years, I have grown in knowledge of the skill and love for playing.
While most piano players I know enjoy playing classical, I prefer playing Top 40 hits. Rearranging popular hits on the radio is something I have a real knack for. Recently, I have rearranged songs such as ‘Ready for It’ by Taylor Swift or ‘Better Now’ by Post Malone.
Also, changing around the tempo and some of the minor and major chord progressions within songs really is something I enjoy doing. Piano is such a versatile instrument, and I especially love how creative it allows me to be.
Expressing myself through playing piano is something that brings me great joy. Through the years, I have learned thousands of songs by heart, and I really love performing for others. Also, I know that no matter what I am going through, I can turn to my piano and start playing.
Playing piano has truly become not just my favorite past time but my favorite thing I own to this day. It has helped me to become not only a better musician but to be a more well-rounded and creative individual!
