“For someone else who also need some relaxation, sewing is great for clearing the mind while still making an actual result.”
I started sewing when I was 15 years old. I attended a summer camp that was for 2 full weeks.
Honestly, I wasn’t looking forward to being around strangers for so long. Yet, when I actually got there and started participating in the activities, I learned that I liked making things. At the camp, I learned how to use a sewing machine and, back at home, my mom taught me a few other sewing tactics.
Now, it’s a great relaxer for me. Even though I expected it to be miserable, the summer camp introduced me to my love of creation.
I now like sewing costumes, making skirts, doing embroidery, and more. I even have my own sewing machine at home so I can practice my craft whenever I feel like it.
Sewing for me is something to do to clear my mind or express my emotions. I have no intentions to become a designer or open a boutique. Really, I am just grateful for the outlet.
Sewing is relaxing, and that’s what I appreciate most about it. When life becomes confusing, I know I can sew to clear my head. I would definitely recommend it to others who need to do the same.
I like sewing because it’s meditative, and it also gives you a tangible product at the end. For someone else who also need some relaxation, sewing is great for clearing the mind while still making an actual result. Just be careful not to poke yourself!
It is also great for familiarizing yourself with other people. In high school, I created costumes for play productions. After a year, a few new members joined the theater, and I was able to help them learn how to sew.
Even though I only taught them the basics, I enjoyed imparting that knowledge upon them. The fact that I can share my hobby with others is amazing; not only with teaching, but also gift giving.
So far, I have given costumes to others, made skirts for friends, and produced pillows as gifts. I have even made a purse for someone. It’s great knowing that I can relax while still making others happy.
