Self-Expression
Self-Expression – Voices 14

From a very young age, I have always been able to express myself. But, ultimately my ability to do so has exponentially developed with age, a change in location, and friend groups.
I know it sounds so selfish, but you really have to love yourself before others can love you. I swear on it. I think about what I do and do not like, what makes me happy, and what I want to accomplish.
I think the most important thing for me is that I have fairly strict morals that I do not stray from because I have developed them through time, many mistakes, and how I perceive myself. One of those morals is that I am going to do whatever I want to do. I will not allow others to deter me from doing it.
Something that helps me stick to that is constantly wearing and buying clothes that I want to wear, no matter how weird they may be. I wear weird clothing that does not always coincide with the latest ‘trends.’ For the most part, I have been very lucky and have had positive responses to my ‘methods’ of self-expression.
However, I have also faced so many negative reactions, but that doesn’t stop me from being me. I strongly believe that if someone doesn’t like you for you then you don’t need them anyways. You should cut them out and continue being true.
I’ve been fortunate enough to have been told by close friends and acquaintances that I have inspired them. I think I inspired myself because I knew I didn’t want to be like others. I want to be original.
