Self-Expression
How I Express Myself Through Music
I love music. I like listening to music, talking about music, hearing other people talk about music, reading about music. And, watching videos on how people create music. I’m a big fan of hip hop, I like the beats. I’m a big fan of people like Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Kanye West, Kid Cudi.
My favorite rapper is Earl Sweatshirt because he’s a very good poet. I like the poetry aspect of rap.
The good thing about hip hop is that it touches upon things that people live through. It talks about real stuff that I can relate to. In ’08 and ’09 artists like Kanye West and Kid Cudi, especially Kid Cudi, were some of the first artists to talk about mental health issues.
They brought that into the mainstream. They also talk about things like poverty, and other things that people like me can relate to.
Music has made me a lot more open minded. I think I’ve become a more tolerant person because I get to hear different people’s views and perspectives. Music also really helps me relate to others.
Music is a huge part of my life and I feel that it helps me express myself. I wear clothes related to music, I post about it on social media, and talk about it with my friends. The type of music someone listens to can tell you a lot about a person, and I definitely think that applies to me.
Even though I already express myself by listening to music, in the future, I would like to make music as well. One day I want to create something new that’s never been done before.
I think that’s one of the greatest things you can do. Lately, I’ve started trying to write raps of my own. I’m also trying to learn the keyboard and guitar.
