Since I can remember, I have always had a love for the game of basketball. I first started on a team in kindergarten and played on and off through 6th grade.

However, it wasn’t until I saw a player do tricks that I became truly intrigued. The teenager was at an amusement park showing off his incredible ball handling and inspired me greatly. This player was also the first person who ever gave me a basketball of my own.

Soon, I was practicing every day and traveling on a team full of dedicated young players. Being able to express myself through my passion is something I will always be thankful for.

Sometimes, I have trouble really focusing on one thing, but with basketball this was never a problem. With basketball, it takes me to another place and captivates my attention in a way no other activity could.

It has taught me good sportsmanship, time management, how to be confident, and so much more. Eventually, I became captain and point guard of several teams. I played travel up until college, and now I play in tournament leagues for my college in my spare time.

Honestly, I cannot imagine my life without this game. It has shaped me into the ambitious young man I am today, and I will never forget that.

While I know that I can’t physically play well forever, I still want to be a part of the game. Whether this is by coaching or training younger players, I want to keep making a mark on my favorite game.
