“The advice I would give to every girl that is dealing with these issues is that you don’t need to look any particular way to be happy! Look at yourself in the mirror and realize you are worth it, you are perfect the way you are!”

Even being considered a pretty girl by people, many others would find flaws to tear my self-esteem down.
When I was in middle school and high school, people would always make fun of my big arms. They would even challenge me to arm wrestling matches thinking they were funny, but I would have the last laugh every time I would beat them. But beating them would only make it worse in the long run.
My body image has affected me because some days, I would feel like I wasn’t good enough. When I worked out, I felt like no matter how hard I tried it wasn’t good enough.
Social media plays a negative role on body image, especially for younger girls. They see photos of models with big butts, big boobs, and small waist thinking what they see is perfection.
They believe that’s what they need to look like in order to be considered beautiful. These little girls don’t realize that most, if not all, the photos they see are photoshop and edited.
I have overcome my body image issues by embracing everything about me. I learned self-love is all you need, and I became comfortable in my own skin.
Other things that helped me was people telling me they wish they had my curves or big strong legs like me. But other people would make fun of my physique, which was fine because beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I stopped caring about what people said about my body because I was happy with it. The advice I would give to every girl that is dealing with these issues is that you don’t need to look any particular way to be happy!
Look at yourself in the mirror and realize you are worth it, you are perfect the way you are! Keep shining like the diamond you are.
